Since the 1990s, the old Manoir Gaulin has been home to former residents of the Saint-Hyacinthe psychiatric hospital. Some thirty of them live in this alternative accommodation, which became their lifeline after the wave of deinstitutionalization that threw them out into the street without resources. Profitability dictates that this end-of-the-world motel will soon be demolished to make developers happy.
